Event liability insurance protects you, the host, if a claim is made against you for an injury to a guest or damage to the venue. A single guest injury can cost a host thousands of dollars without coverage in place.
Yes. Any time you host a wedding, ceremony, party, or meeting in a space you do not own, you need event general liability coverage. Most venues require it to protect both you and the property.
Coverage is generally affordable. A policy for a small wedding can start around $66, and the premium rises with the size and type of the event. A trade show expecting 250 guests runs closer to $125, while a large concert can approach $400. Your final cost will depend on the details of your event.
Event insurance is a general liability policy written for one specific event. It covers most claims of guest or spectator injury and property damage arising from that event, and it is the coverage most venues require.
Event liability insurance is most often purchased to satisfy the insurance requirement in a venue's rental agreement. More importantly, it keeps the event holder from paying out of pocket for most claims of injury or property damage caused by the event. Policy exclusions apply.
A single claim for bodily injury or property damage at your event could create a serious financial hardship for you or your business. Event liability insurance is what stands between one accident and an expense you would otherwise carry yourself.
